I’ve been fascinated in how we communicate and connect with people my whole life. At 16 a regular customer to the bakery where I had my Saturday job called me a ‘tonic’ and I realised that how I behaved had an impact on people. Perhaps more importantly I realised that I could choose the impact I wanted to make. This fascination initially took me into a career on the stage where I honed my ability to mould my behaviour creating believable characters to absorb theatre audiences.
In 2002 I met an incredible training consultancy and fell in love. I realised very quickly that this was a place that I could really make a difference, that I could put my craft to work helping people really connect authentically through their communication, that I knew practical ways to get over self consciousness and nerves, that I could offer people awareness and options in how they made an impact and the influence they have on others. I felt like I had finally found my place in the universe.
And so followed an apprenticeship and coaching qualifications and what is now over a decade in which I’ve been privileged to work with incredibly diverse companies and people from entrepreneurs getting businesses off the ground to Graduates at Dunnhumby and Senior Execs at BskyB.
What I do now
I work with people, teams and organisations to kick-start, maximise on and adapt to change. Sometimes that’s working with people 121 as they transition a new phase in their career. Sometimes it’s working with leadership teams to master high performance. Sometimes it’s speaking to large audiences about how they inspire people to follow them. All in all it’s about helping people, teams and organisations magnify the potential they have in them so that it’s sharply in focus.
Who I work with
Over my career I’ve worked with corporates, small businesses, not-for-profits and individuals. Some notable names are Barclays, EE, QinetiQ, and CIPD.
What I love more than anything is working with people that are ambitious in the most rounded sense of the word; they want to be the best they can be.
My first experience of feeling confident came from performing on stage as a teenager. It wasn’t something I was ‘natural’ at (in fact I loathed the idea and the person making me do it!) but it was something that I practiced and became very proficient in. Some of the most fundamental lessons I learnt then inform much of what I do today; be that in my coaching and facilitation or my participation on the board of Chain Reaction, an incredible charity helping disadvantaged young people in London.
I have been very lucky to have many inspiring teachers along the way but without doubt the greatest are my partner Andrew and my two children; it’s a cliché but they really do make it all worthwhile.
Communication in all its guises, career development, confidence building, having the impact you want, influencing others, building a strong team dynamic, coaching on any subject you can name (test me!), leadership development, coaching for leaders.
I began working with people in the corporate world in 2005 bringing with me all the experience of my previous profession to help people communicate with confidence and authenticity. I’m happy working in small groups or speaking at a conference, with people at the start or at the top of their careers. Over the last ten years I have trained hundreds of executives in communication, Influencing & impact.
A leader in my own right, I created and facilitate a thriving and diverse women’s group, lecturing and inspiring entrepreneurial women in their creativity, health and businesses. I have also been teaching yoga and meditation for the over 10 years.
What I do now
Keen insight, intuition and kindness are at the heart of my coaching style. I have a deep understanding of the anatomy of the body and a passion to explore the human spirit that gives depth and perspective to our programmes, and a unique offering to our clients. I’ve got a broad toolkit of disciplines as varied as performance, psychology, philosophy, and resilience/stress management that I apply to design a practical path of development for my clients, I use a holistic approach to achieve strategic results. My joy is to empower people to go beyond their limitations and thrive. At the foundation of all my work is mindfulness; this is something I have been exploring for 20 years, first as a performer, now as a coach.
Who I work with
I’ve worked with a broad range of corporate, not-for-profit and individuals over the course of my career. Most recently with the likes of Apple, British Gas, The Barbican, EE and Meryl Lynch. What I love is helping people fulfill their dreams, wherever they are.
Since I was a wee dot my family encouraged me to perform, as a dancer and actor, you’d never know it now but I was quiet and shy, even in later life I struggled with performance anxiety when preparing for a role, and this led me to delve deep into enquiry around what makes us live small or great. I developed my “fierceness” overcoming many limits and this is what makes me such an amazing coach.
Big belly laughter, Communication in all its forms, expert in impact, mindfulness, meditation, anything to do with the breath. Resilience and stress management, confidence building, facilitating women’s forums, keynote speaking in mindfulness, personal strategic planning, bringing our femininity to work.
Before becoming a consultant, I worked for British Airways for 10 years. My time here focused primarily on Leadership Development where I was responsible for designing and delivering a diverse range of training programmes and leadership workshops as well as facilitating cultural change events across the company.
I have a BA Hons in European Studies, a Diploma in Management Studies, a Coaching Diploma and a Diploma in Sports Psychology. I am a licensed practitioner of Bar-On Emotional Intelligence, EQ-I, MBTI and SDI. I am also an NLP Master Practitioner.
What I do now and who I work with
I have 20 years’ experience in the world of consultancy, facilitation and training in the areas of team building, leadership and coaching working in financial, retail, technology, leisure and car manufacturing industries. My clients include David Lloyd Leisure, Covea Insurance, EE, William Hill, Intechnology, QinetiQ and Roche.
I live in Buckinghamshire with my 2 teenage sons Sam and Ben who have provided me with my biggest learning opportunity so far in life!!
I am the author of ‘Change Management Excellence’ published by Kogan Page.
I specialise in the area of Influencing and all its manifestations. I know how important it is that the people I work with are able to explore their real behaviours and relationships and understand what they are doing to help and hinder the development of positive relationships with others.
My first job was as a speechwriter to Lord Sainsbury and then I spent the next 20 years in advertising and marketing, both in agencies and my own consultancy. At some point I became more interested in what happened in meetings and groups than in the ads themselves, and then I became a facilitator/trainer.
What I do now
My work is a mixture of coaching, facilitation and training. I am lucky enough to work in many different cultures and places. I am mostly focused on helping people move from the safety of familiarity towards the excitement of the new, finding ways to get past the kinds of fears and misunderstandings that get in the way.
Who I work with
I work with individuals and groups in government, businesses, and non-profits. I tend to find my methods work best with human beings; I’m scared of noisy dogs and most snakes. Other than that, I’m not fussy.
I used to be thought of by friend as a brain-on-a-stick, which I suppose is a back-handed compliment. These days I work quite hard to improve the flexibility and sensitivity of the stick with a regimen of yoga, swimming and cycling.
I love helping people find new and more satisfying ways to handle difficult people and scary challenges.
I graduated with a degree in Biochemistry and a growing realization that this wasn’t the career path for me so I took a sales job for a telecoms company, to reconsider. On my first day, I attended a training program and I suddenly knew what I wanted to do with my life!
I have now been involved in Training and Development for 19 years. This has included a number of training, management, recruitment and HR roles, 12 years running my own successful consultancy and 2 years in South Africa setting up a Training and Recruitment franchise.
What I do now
My work is a mixture of training, consultancy and coaching. I am a huge fan of making training different, memorable and bringing it to life in order for delegates to be fully engaged during and more importantly after the intervention so that maximum change happens.
Clients, delegates and colleagues have all described me as incredibly passionate and committed, with a focus on gaining real and tangible results. I have first hand experience of the subjects I cover, which I believe adds to the credibility and effectiveness of my work.
Who I work with
I work with individuals and groups in public and private organizations of all sizes both in the UK and internationally.
As well as my work, I have three passions. The first two (Travel and Scuba Diving) have led me all over the world, typically carrying a small backpack and guidebook.
The third is my 2-year-old daughter, Mia, who fits in brilliantly with the first two, loves browsing the latest lonely planet and is currently recovering from inter-railing round Europe with her Mum.
Management Development, Personal Skills Development (including Presentation skills, Communication skills, Conflict and Influencing skills) and Advanced Selling (including New Business, Negotiation skills and Account Management), Action learning Sets as well as a variety of Psychometrics to facilitate this learning.
A professionally trained actress, with seven years in the industry, before altering my career path to training and coaching. During my time as a performer I preferred the stage over screen with a passion for comedy, period drama, and Shakespearean productions in particular.
What I do now
I am both a qualified coach and organisational trainer with eight years experience. Due to my background I have a very creative and open approach to my work, encouraging clients to push boundaries and go ‘outside their comfort zones’; challenging the norm and questioning existing beliefs.
Who I work with
Over the years I have worked for many different organisations, across both private and public sectors, with different levels of seniority. My more recent clients are American Express, SSP, Centrica, CIPD, EE and Buckingham Health Care to name but a few.
I am fascinated with the idea that our thoughts drive our actions and that by taking control of how we think we can achieve more than we realise; this is the backbone of my approach to training, coaching and life. I am also a great believer that change is possible and, by creating awareness and identifying certain behaviours or habits that hold you back, you can choose to change them – the first step and half the battle!
My areas of expertise cover all areas of communication (from making the perfect impression through a presentation to sounding ‘just right’ on a voicemail). I also specialise in impact and influence programmes and have designed many different programmes in both areas. I call upon many performance tools as well as coaching when creating or delivering programmes.
Other areas include ‘leadership’, authenticity and, more recently, the field of stress resilience.
